No one is unaware of the recent stampede that happened on sunday in Naina Devi temple in Madhya Pradesh. The day was the most auspicious ‘Navami’ and people hoped of finishing their 9 days long marathon of fasts. Little did they know that the day would actually mark the end of their lives and they would be nothing more than a history in a matter of time.
Little is known as to why the stampede happened, why people started running here and there on a crowded bridge and jumping off it, but eye-witnesses claim to have seen the police-men throwing people in the river, alongside the lathi-charge, of course.
People claimed the people in uniforms allowed a lot of vehicles to pass though that area (at a price) and created more crowd than expected. It is alleged that police-men not only beat up the pilgrims, but also threw their bodies, including alive and injured children into the river. People were not even allowed to collect the dead-bodies of their kins at that time and when they tried to do so, the men-in-uniform threatened to throw them in the river too.
Authorities claim to look into the matter and take strict actions, while are quite sure what actions will be taken. Come on man, only 115 killed and over 100 injured(according to govt. statistics, which obviously would not be correct) , that’s not a big loss to the nation. Which politician needs to get into minor issues like that!
